Friends of Castlefields Pond area
Welcome to Castlefields Pond - A green lung at the heart of our community.
A cared for wild space that is safe and welcoming, where biodiversity nestles into the town centre.

A special place
Castlefields Pond and its surroundings together form a special place that enables local nature to prosper, whilst providing a space for residents of Stafford and the local community to visit daily to enjoy wildlife and nature right on their doorstep. It’s a place for well-being, providing a restful green contrast to the town centre.
Friends of Castlefield Pond: our hopes and how you can help us.
The Pond and surrounding area form a semi-natural green space that currently supports a variety of wildlife. It is valued and cared for by the local community. It currently forms the town centre portion of a green corridor stretching almost unbroken from Newport, with potential for extension from Doxey Marshes, up to the Castle, along to Rising Brook and beyond.
We want to ensure that the Pond thrives as a Stafford’s unique public amenity. It already provides that rare component of biodiversity nestling almost into the town centre
We want to develop its potential as a cared for wild space that is safe and welcoming. A peaceful space for sitting, walking, fishing, learning about birds, wild mammals and plants, a place for drawing, painting, photography and simply enjoying being outside in nature.
We need your help to protect the Pond
As part of the work we are doing to protect the Castlefields Pond we will be applying for the area to become a Community Asset. To help visualise the area we’re talking about, it is shown in the (zoom and pan-able) image above and mapped here.    A form to submit your thoughts on the Community Asset please click here.
