Dear resident, we need your help to protect the Castlefields Pond
As part of the work we are doing to protect the Castlefields Pond (AKA Balancing Pond) we will be applying for the area to become a Community Asset.
Being a Community Asset means that the asset is used to further the social well-being and interests of our local community and will be potentially protected from being taken out of public use and can remain a social hub for the community.
In order to show that the Castlefields Pond is of community value we will need as many supporting statements as possible from users of the area to set out that the asset fits the definition below:
A building or land is deemed to be of community value if, in the opinion of the council:
• its actual current use furthers the social well-being and interests of the local community, or a use in the recent past has done so; and
• that use is not an ancillary one; and
• for land in current community use it is realistic to think that there will continue to be a use which furthers social well-being and interests, or for land in community use in the recent past it is realistic to think that there will be community use within the next 5 years (in either case, whether or not that use is exactly the same as the present or past);
Social interests include (a) cultural interests; (b) recreational interests; (c) sporting interests.
Social well-being relates to social interaction and engagement. It is a sense of involvement with other people and their communities
To support this we are asking you to email or write to us, setting out your thoughts on the points below: (you do not need to cover them all and can add extra points if you like).
You can also fill this form and submit
There are some paper copies of this form at Tranquillity if you would find it easier to fill the form in directly.
We would like to collect the forms by the 30th October 2023 (but don’t mind having some forms after that date).
Thank you for your support Friends of Castlefields Pond
